Structure--property relationship and chemical durability of magnesium-containing borosilicate glasses with insight from topological constraints

Abstract The initial dissolution rate of a series multicomponent glasses is studied in order to discuss the influence increasing magnesium content glass on this alteration regime and highlight differences behavior between calcium- magnesium-bearing glasses. application MD-based topological constraint theory (TCT) confronted transition temperature ( T g ) r 0 containing main oxides French nuclear (AVM). In addition, comparison reference magnesium-containing waste glass, AVMV4 proposed derived simplified composition N19M8 performed regarding values. Results indicate similar for two glasses, suggesting that simple might be good analogue complex one. Substituting calcium decreases by factor series, while an overall increase leads increased rate. Analyses with TCT suggests environment better defined than or sodium may behave as intermediate species. Finally, correlation number constraints per atom established, model failed link structural features .
